Boxer Dog Blog The Visit

We selected the breeder to go and visit...he only had two pups left from a litter of 6 born on 25th October. So we went,( myself and eldest daughter) . The two pups were identical , one female and one male,Red and white with black masks .Each had a smidgeon of white above the nostril. We had kept females in the past but were undecided this time. We had a look at the two pups who demonstrated good temperaments immediately and then popped upstairs to see the Mum. She was a lovely dark fawn female with a black mask. Having the pups had taken it out of her but she still made the effort to come over to be petted.

We popped back downstairs and chatted with the breeder and his partner about the pups and our history too as we had bred a litter of Pups ten years earlier. I asked if we could see the Dad so Steve the breeder went and fetched him on his lead. He immediately made a beeline for the whelping box and all the pups were jumping frantically as he tried to get in the box!! He was a very muscular flashy brindle , the image of our dog we had lost 2 years ago.We were sold when we saw him. We checked the two Pups again and decided to stick with what we knew so the female was selected and a deposit paid after checking the Kennel Club papers and documents.

Boxer Dog Blog

Our 12th Boxer puppy found its way into the family home this Xmas.We had been thinking about a new Puppy since losing our 10 year old Boxer Minty two years ago to Cancer. We had toyed with the idea for a while and then decided to be "sensible". They cost too much. They tie you down. They get sick. They chew everything in sight. They ruin your garden. They have accidents in the house. But "sensible" is boring isn`t it? So what they get sick. So do humans. They cost too much. A lot less than humans cost. They ruin your garden. Put up a fence. They chew everything in sight. Crate train them. They have accidents in the house. OK no way round that one....but it is easy cleaned.

So it was decided (by me, plus the grandchildren would like it)) that a new Puppy would enter our household. We had contacted local breeders in the Summer with no response. It turns out that the one of the  two main local breeders have all but retired and the other breeder specializes in another breed. So no local litters available. It`s fate. Forget about it. move on. So we did.

December the pangs hit again. No local breeders so look further afield. Bingo . Three litters all due in and around October that means available round about December /January. Gosh these Puppies are going like hot cakes. It`s the usual Xmas madness. A Puppy is for life you know NOT just for Xmas! Thirty four years that slogan has been in the public eye and yet year after year irresponsible people acquire Puppies on a whim without any proper research or thought resulting in abandoned Pups in the New Year.

DAY 7 Olympics 2012

THIRTY SEVEN medals after 7 days and MURRAY finally wins a final at Wimbledon. What another excellent day at our home Olympics. It absolutely hammered down today. the nutjob next door was spiking his lawn cos it was flooding with so much rain.Eedgit, it is flooding cos the ground is saturated! leave it and it will drain naturally.Torrential rain was an excuse for me to shut the door batten down the hatches and take on another all day dose of Olympic adrenalin. Only two golds today but gosh it could have been FIVE quite easily. Poor old Christine Onohuru just left it a tadge too late to defend her 400 m title from the American Sanya Ross whatever and Louis Smith had EXACTLY the same total score as his nearest opponent on the pommel horse only to lose it on the mark for execution.Another gold slipped thru the fingers as our Star craft were just beaten by the swedes in the last 200 metres of their epic tussle. Ben Ainslie flew the flag proud again for a gold after a long week. His 4th Olympic gold makes him the most decorated yahtsman ever. he says Rio will not see him as his body shows signs of wear and tear. I`m not too sure!! More silver came when Murray and Robson just missed out on the Gold after smashing the first set. A Gold and a Silver for Murray must be the highlight of his career. In the vellydrome Ed Clancy added a bronze to his gold in the team pursuit in the weird omnium a 6 event epic over 2 days . I suppose it is the cyclin equivalent of the heptathlon. Bolt celebrates the second fastest time in history for the 100m in typical lightning style. Outside of the British interest Insane Bolt did it again becoming the first since Carl lewis to retain the Olympic title in the blue ribbon 100 m sprint. His training pal from Jamaica took silver while the unpopular Gatlin stole bronze from Tyson Gay who was seriously dissapointed. Gay has come back fron hip sugery this year and it must have been galling for him to be pipped by a drugs cheat!! On a more local note I was pleased to see Chambers elominated at the Semi Final stage whilst Adam Gemeli at 18 did him self proud finishing 3rd in his semi fina ljust outside his own personal best. Campbell secured our first Boxing medal in the bantamweights while we have two more chances tomorrow with the lightweights and the superheavyweights. Beth Tweddle goes tommorow in the high bars and also some more gold should be ours in the vellydrome as Pendleton and Kenny go for Gold in their finals. Phew , it`s all getting too much... my eyes are like matchsticks ....catch ya tomorrow...

It`s a first .No Complaints

gOhhhhhldlympics!! What a bloomin daY. I have lost track of what happened today. It was like a blooming tornado. Every time I looked up we had another medal. SIX gold medals in one day plus a narrow miss in the Rowing, see them lads sobbin? Broke my heart it did. Kleenex missed out big time . Hankies with the Olympic rings motto would have been selling like hot cakes all day! And there is much more to come. Three more days in the vellydrome to add to our tally. Dai green got thru by the skin of his teeth but still in with a chance, Tomorrow we have Beth Tweddle and Louis Smith with a great chance in the individuals. Two guaranteed medals in the tennis too!!Some more in track n field surely from Phillips Odowu, Sprint relays, 400 hurdles , Onuru in the womens 400 plus a couple of surprises surely. Then there is still the boxing and sailing to come. Ifd only we could have the Olympics every year in London we wouldn`t give a monkeys about house prices droppin, Euros collapsing etc etc...

Dissapointed again

What a disappointment! Daughter tells me tickets at £50 available for Olympics on wed 110m Hurdles Final 400M womens hurdles and other assorted goodies. So goes on the official site. Only tickets available are £295upwards!! She had four reserved at £50 but bloomin firewall on her PC wouldn`t let her proceed to purchase!!!Ahhhhh wel.. It can`t be half as disappointing as it was for poor ole Becky Adlington, sobbin her heart out she was at the medal ceremony. Fran Halsall put it all in perspective though saying Becky shouldn`t be disappointed she`s the most succesful swimmer ever with 2 Golds and 2 Bronze from two Olympics! She also said after her 3rd in the semi final 50m she`d chew her own arm off if she could have just one bronze. People will say it was the weight of expectation but bottom line is that yankee girl swam a stormer and no one could have accounted for that. Anyways it was a fantastic day all round for team GB with THREE golds and hatful of bronze n silvers. judo got another medal.Pendleton made up for her disappointment with a stormer in the wierd race where an ole geezer rides a moped in front. I could do that ! Giz a job!Great day too for jess Ennis, her time in the 100 hurdles would have won gold in the individual event at Beijing. A decent high jump, shot and finished off the day in the lead with a PB in the 200m!! Well in that girl The ladies got the heave ho in the footy as canada beat them comfortable 2-0. After having whacked BRAAAzil too!! More medals to come in the vellydrome for sure and the boxing lads are doin their bit with Selby getting through 19-15 againsta nutter from Kazakstan.Nice to see Chris Thommo and our other guy whoose name escapes me get to the final of the long jump. Roll on tmw , can`t wait .Third in the medals table now. Onwards and upwards....
Hello and welcome to my blog. If you are reading this for the first time then you may be also interested to know that my nephew has an alternative Olympics report blog which is nearly as good a read as this. You can find him at This is my personal rant page. The world is a frustrating place. I discovered this a good time ago but as your years advance ( mine are on a bleeding conveyor belt)you become more and more aware of the total futility of human beings and the cockeyed way we (they) run things. "Life isn`t fair." How many times have you said, thought or heard someone else say that?? I bet if you had a quid for every time you wouldn`t be reading this now.So what is not fair in life? Well the first thing to hit you is the obvious.Less than 5% of the population in the UK owning 95% of the wealth of the UK. Similar figures can be shown for all economically developed countries in the west. This is because in the modern world the accumulation of wealth is akin to the physical strength individuals had in our pre historic history. So from that point of view you could say life has ALWAYS been unfair. For example in pre historic times it would be the strongest, fittest guy who would get all the women. He would also have relative wealth as he could simply beat the crap out of someone who had something he wanted. So you can see straight away this is unfair. The seven stone weakling in the corner who would have trouble getting out of a wet paper bag had no control or say in what physical attributes he had. He was simply born with them or as lady gaga would say " Born this way." Genetics in action. So you see genetics ain`t fair either. This is at the basic level of organic life. It is a principle of survival. So you see, things being unfair are essential to the development of the human race so fuckin get on with it.Nowadays we are civilised of course.there are consequences if we beat the crap outta someone for financial gain. It is called the justice system Whoaahhh!!! The Justice system , now there is something else that is unfair. Nick a bottle of Pepsi from a shop and you get a caution and a slap on the wrist in normal circumstances. But do it when a Tory government is in power and you are struck by the adrenalin of the moment (London Riots) and nicking a bottle of Pepsi results in the end of your functional working life. Even without the Tory clampdown on the plebs the Justic system is unfair. Take someone`s life in anger and depending upon the charge you can be out of jail before you can say Bob`s your Aunty. Drive a car while under the influence and kill somebody and it`s only classed as manslaughter so again a relatively short sentence is met out. This of course is the tip of the iceberg. I`m going to be a bit more topical now because the Olympics are on. Now here we go again . From a sporting point of view we all have the same opportunities in life , that is of course if we have a modicum of hand/eye co-ordination and are not a complete wazack. Now here`s where it all falls down. You need the right parents, you know the ones I mean , the ones who actually know their kids names and don`t spend all their lives in the pub, on the lash, or plonked in front of the telly . It is even better if they have a few bob.It helps if you attend a school where the staff are interested in kids and not 13 weeks holidays a year and a guaranteed early dart every Friday.Another factor is the country you are born in. While many top class athletes now come from third world countries by and large it is because they either emigrate to richer countries or are given assistance via Sports scholarships etc particularly in the USA.Then you have to avoid illness and injury. Hope your family stay together and hope your mental capacity can deal with all the angst that goes with trying to be one of the very few who "make it" in Sport. While we are on the Olympics there is another thing that ain`t fair. All the rich buggers and so called "celebs" can go and see one of the worlds most prestigious sporting events while the rest of us have to scramble to see any Olympic event and take out a second mortgage into the bargain. Every time the Olympics is on you can see all the bloody Royals with their freebie seats. politicians , celebrities ete etc. Have you noticed how many bloody foreigners are at the Olympics. THEY can afford to pay through the nose for tickets we can`t get and fly to another country as well!!! Yep life definitely ain`t fair......to be continued
